eeePC Kernel

So you have Ubuntu running on your Asus eeePC. Good for you! But, there are some out-of-the-box issues. The most noticeable thing is the lack of your wifi working. Your sound is acting funny, the hotkeys don't work, and it takes a long time to start up. There is hope for you! We have the solution to all these probems and more with the customized, optimized kernel by array.org.

This kernel also provides great speed stepping control, so your processor will actually get up to full speed and then lay off when it's not needed anyore. Thi gets you PHENOMENAL battery life, much better than the stock linux can get you.

Go to www.array.org/ubuntu/ to read more about it.

Here's the easy way to do it:

Open up the package manager, and add a third-party source. The URL is http://www.array.org/ubuntu . The distribution is "hardy" and the components is "eeepc". Let the package manager reload and you'll have access to new stuff. Install the package "linux-eeepc" and it will get your new kernel and everything installed and set up.

Reboot and hit hit escape at the prompt to see the grub menu. You'll see the new menu item is the eeePC-specific kernel. It'll start up darn fast, too. Enjoy!
